Job description:
The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for the dynamic transition between software development environments and for enabling fast, reliable versioning across the organization. Key tasks include designing and owning the environments, platforms and delivery pipelines that ensure smooth, secure deliverability between them, and acting as a technical lead and mentor for DevOps practices within the squad.
Job responsibilities
- Design, architect and implement automation solutions for development, testing and production environments
- Build and set up new IT infrastructure based on the IaC method, and define IaC standards and best practices
- Ensure business continuity, high availability and resilience of IT infrastructure and systems/services
- Design, deploy and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines
- Ensure availability of monitoring, logging and alerting tools for newly introduced systems/software, and drive observability practices
- Review the needs of stakeholders and communicate them to the Developers' team
- Lead the development of solutions to automate and improve development and release processes
- Identify technical problems and develop software updates and fixes
- Cooperate with software developers to ensure that development follows the established processes and works as intended
- Embed security into infrastructure and delivery processes (DevSecOps), in line with banking security and compliance requirements
- Plan projects, take part in project management decisions, and contribute to technical roadmap and architectural decisions
- Lead incident response, perform root cause analysis and drive preventive actions
- Analyze, isolate and solve complex issues
- Report on the works done
- Enhance knowledge of specific applications used inside the organization
- Create technical documents, standards and operating procedures for systems under their responsibility
- Ensure smooth operation of available software and systems
- Mentor and coach junior and middle-level engineers, and conduct code and configuration reviews
- Train staff members on new software and updates
Required qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of work experience as a DevOps Engineer
- Minimum 5 years of work experience with Linux servers
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Helm and Ansible is mandatory
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. Terraform)
- Knowledge of message brokers and distributed caching systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis, etc.)
- Strong working experience with containers/Docker
- CI/CD process automation in different cloud environments
- Strong working experience with Azure DevOps
- Working experience with Identity Management systems
- Working experience with Service Mesh infrastructure layer
- Incident management and root cause analysis, including leading incidents in production
- Configuration, tuning and management of databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MSSQL
- Working experience with source code management (SCM)
- Working experience with web services (Apache, IIS, Nginx)
- Experience with monitoring and observability stacks (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (Bash, PowerShell, Python)
- Strong problem solving skills in hardware and software issues
- Experience designing solutions independently and making sound architectural decisions
- Ability to mentor other engineers and share knowledge
- Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail and quick response to changing circumstances
- Ability to make quick and independent decisions
- Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in time-critical situations
- Proficiency in Armenian, Russian and English
