Project: Organics Mobilized: Accelerating Social Transformation Towards Circular Bioeconomy

Project Background
The Organics Mobilized: Accelerating Social Transformation Towards Circular Bioeconomy project supports Armenia's transition toward sustainable organic waste and biomass management through integrated circular economy approaches. The project is implemented by the American University of Armenia (AUA) in partnership with UNDP Armenia, funded by the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) Food and Nutrition Challenge, a United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Initiative.
The project aims to reduce methane and other climate pollutant emissions from the organic waste sector by strengthening national and municipal capacities, improving source separation and valorization of organic waste, piloting decentralized circular bioeconomy solutions, promoting sustainable cold-chain technologies, and facilitating behavioral and institutional transformation through Living Labs and Learning Communities.
Objective
To provide financial administration and monitoring support for the Organics Mobilized project by tracking budget execution and expenditures, maintaining accurate financial documentation, supporting project financial reporting and compliance, and coordinating with AUA's Finance Department and relevant project partners.

Scope of Work and Responsibilities
- Monitor project budget execution and expenditure against the approved project budget and work plan.
- Maintain up-to-date financial trackers and records of project expenditures, commitments, and budget balances; identify variances, discrepancies, or potential budget issues for the attention of the Project Manager.
- Coordinate with the AUA Finance Department on project-related financial transactions, payments, budget adjustments, and financial documentation.
- Support the preparation of financial reports and expenditure statements required by the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) and other relevant project partners or donors.
- Compile, verify, and organize financial supporting documentation, including invoices, payment requests, contracts, purchase orders, timesheets, and other relevant records.
- Ensure that financial documentation is complete, accurate, properly authorized, and maintained in accordance with AUA policies and donor requirements.
- Support monitoring of project expenditures across budget lines and project components and provide regular financial updates to the Project Manager.
- Assist the Project Manager and project team in planning and monitoring financial requirements for project activities.
Support from AUA
The Financial Assistant will work under the supervision of the Project Manager and in close collaboration with the AUA Finance Department, project implementation team, UNDP Armenia, CCAC, UNOPS, implementing partners, and other relevant stakeholders.
Անհրաժեշտ հմտություններ
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in financial administration, accounting, project finance, or a related field.
- Experience supporting donor-funded projects or working with international organizations, NGOs, universities, or development programs is an advantage.
- Experience with budget monitoring, expenditure tracking, financial reporting, and financial documentation.
- Familiarity with donor financial procedures and compliance requirements is an advantage.
- Experience coordinating with finance or accounting departments and working with financial management systems is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets and other relevant financial or accounting software.
- Ability to maintain accurate, confidential, and well-organized financial records.
- Ability to identify discrepancies and follow up on outstanding financial information and documentation.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and spoken English and Armenian.
